Installing on Windows
The easiest way is the Microsoft Store: click Get or Install, and it installs and updates Earkeep with no warning screen.
The setup file, for a PC without the Store, is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a blue Windows protected your PC screen the first time. That means a new publisher, not a problem in the file. To get past it:
- Keep the download if your browser warns about it (in Edge: …, Keep, Show more, Keep anyway).
- Open the setup file from Downloads.
- Click More info, the small underlined text under the message.
- Click Run anyway. The installer then starts as usual.
This happens once. Updates download inside Earkeep and are checked against its own signature.

What happens next
- Open the app. On a Mac, drag Earkeep to Applications and double-click it. On Windows, open it from the Start menu (setup file: see above).
- Pick a transcription model. Whisper or Parakeet, downloaded once, run on your device (languages and models).
- Grant microphone and system audio permissions. A meeting is you talking and the call playing back.
Earkeep then listens in the background, and you mark meetings afterwards. Audio is processed in memory and never written to disk.

Frequently asked questions
Is Earkeep notarized and safe to open on macOS?
Yes. It is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no unidentified-developer warning. Each update carries its own signature, verified before install.
What macOS version do I need?
macOS 13 or later. The button gives you the Apple Silicon build unless your browser says Intel (Safari and Firefox cannot), so on an Intel Mac use the Intel tile. The Intel build transcribes on the CPU, noticeably slower, and needs macOS 13.4 or later.
What about Windows, phones and tablets?
Windows needs Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, and transcribes on the CPU; see installing on Windows. There is no app for iPhone, iPad or Android.
How big is the model download?
It depends on the model you pick on first launch: larger ones are more accurate and take more space. See languages and models.
Does Earkeep work offline?
Yes. Transcription runs entirely on your device, and license validation has an offline grace period.
Do I need an account?
No, not for the trial or after you buy. Earkeep registers the device once so the trial can be counted, sending only a one-way hash of a hardware id (privacy policy).
