The sentence that matters comes twenty minutes into a call nobody recorded. A quick huddle turns into a real decision, with no bot to invite because it wasn't on the calendar. Or you were three minutes late hitting record.

Recording is a prediction: you decide whether a conversation will matter before it has said anything, and by the time you know, it has been said. Bots announce themselves, need inviting, and don't help with the meeting at your desk. The fix is not needing to decide in advance at all.

A meeting is a span you select, retroactively. Drag across the stretch it covers, right after it ends or hours later. It becomes a saved meeting with its own transcript that you can open, search, and hand to an agent.

In-person meetings work the same as online ones: if your laptop is open and Earkeep is running, it hears the room.

No. Voice-activity detection filters out silence and background noise, so transcription runs only when someone is speaking. It costs no more than transcribing the speech that actually happens.

Neither. Audio is processed only in memory: no recording file, no temp .wav, no cache. Transcription has no server to send to. What's saved is the transcript, as plain text files. See private by design.

Then you stop, and you can show that you stopped. There are three ways:

Pause, from the live edge of the transcript. Fifteen minutes, thirty, an hour, or until you resume. Pausing releases the microphone and the system audio stream, so your operating system's recording indicator goes dark where the other person can see it.

Mark a meeting as never-record. Strike a calendar event from the agenda and Earkeep stops capturing for its length, like the standing 1:1 that should never be transcribed.

Delete what was already said. Purge a stretch of the day, or delete a saved meeting with its transcript.

Both leave no trace: a paused or purged stretch reads like one where nobody spoke. That cuts both ways, since you cannot tell a pause from a silence later.
