Changelog

Last updated:

What changed in each Earkeep release, newest first. Earkeep checks for updates on its own and offers each one in the corner of the window; you can also check from Settings → General. Minor and patch updates are free for every license.

0.8.0 2026-10-25

  • Earkeep in your language. The app is now translated into every European language: all the EU's official languages plus Norwegian, Icelandic, Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian, Serbian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Albanian, Catalan, Basque, Galician, Welsh and Luxembourgish. It follows your system language, or pick one in Settings → General → Language. The window reloads to switch, and recording keeps running. The menu bar menu and notifications follow the same choice. See languages and models.
  • Earkeep opens faster, most noticeably with months of meetings in your transcripts folder: the day and your meetings appear without the wait, and the agent choices are ready at once. At launch, recording now starts a moment after the window appears.

0.7.3 2026-10-23

  • Meeting shortcut. Press ⌃⌥⌘M on macOS or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+M on Windows, from any app and with the window closed, to start a meeting with what is said next. Press it again to save it, and Earkeep opens so you can name it. If the microphone was off, the first press turns it on and a notification says so, and saving puts recording back the way it was. A meeting marked never-record is never recorded. Change or disable the shortcut in Settings → General → Keyboard shortcut.
  • Recording links and menu bar controls. Launchers such as Alfred, Raycast and Apple Shortcuts can open earkeep://pause (add ?minutes=30 for a timed pause), earkeep://resume and earkeep://toggle, which starts or saves a meeting like the shortcut, all without bringing up the window. Every change a link makes to recording posts a notification, and a link never resumes recording during a never-record meeting. The menu bar menu has the same controls: Pause recording, Resume recording, Record now or Stop recording, and Start a meeting or Save the meeting. See automating Earkeep with Alfred.
  • On Windows, Earkeep now keeps its models and settings in the local app data folder instead of the roaming profile, and new transcripts go to Documents\Earkeep by default.
  • Settings → General is now laid out as Version, App, Keyboard shortcut, Licence and Usage statistics.
  • Fixes: on Windows, empty console windows no longer pop up at launch or when opening Settings → Agents.

0.7.2 2026-10-20

  • Hide the Dock icon. On macOS, switch on Hide Dock icon when the window is closed in Settings → General or the menu bar menu, and the Dock icon goes away while the window is closed and comes back when you open it. Earkeep keeps recording and stays in the menu bar. It is off by default.

0.7.1 2026-10-20

  • Agent readiness. Each agent in Settings → Agents now shows whether it can actually start: Ready in green, Needs setup in yellow when the agent is installed but Node.js, npx or a sign-in is missing, and Not installed in red. The card lists everything still missing, including the Node.js version the agent needs, and the agent picker no longer offers an agent that cannot start. See agents.
  • Earkeep now sends usage statistics: which features you use and how the app is set up, never anything from your meetings (no titles, notes, transcripts or calendar events). It is on by default, and Share usage statistics in Settings → General turns it off. See the privacy page.

0.7.0 2026-10-20

  • Add your own models. Settings → Transcription now has Add a model…: paste a Hugging Face repo or link and pick a version, or choose a .bin file already on your device. A model published only in the transformers format, as many dialect fine-tunes are, can be converted to whisper.cpp on your device. A model made for one language sets that language once it is downloaded. See languages and models.
  • Model speed. Each downloaded model in Settings → Transcription shows how fast it runs on this computer, with Test speed to measure it, and the active model shows a live figure. A model slower than real time loses speech, so onboarding now tests the model you pick and asks for a lighter one if it cannot keep up.
  • On Windows, Earkeep now records system audio, so the other side of a call reaches the transcript. Apple Calendar is no longer offered there, since it only works on macOS.
  • In calendar-driven capture, End and save on a meeting under way now releases the microphone right away instead of keeping it on until the scheduled end.
  • With git integration on, a meeting you save from a selection is committed once you name it, instead of first under its time range and again with its name.
  • With Parakeet selected, the language picker stays visible and shows the 25 languages it detects among. Checking a language now clears the search and moves it to the top of the list.
  • Fixes: a model download shows its progress bar from the start again, the bar in onboarding no longer jumps when the same model is already downloading, and clearing the app's cache no longer brings back onboarding.

0.6.2 2026-10-16

  • Pick several languages. You can now check more than one transcription language, and Earkeep detects among just those instead of every language it knows, so a meeting that switches between, say, German and English no longer gets the odd line transcribed as Dutch. Check one to transcribe only in it, or none for Auto-detect. The picker is the same in the rail, in Settings → Transcription and in onboarding, which now asks for your languages beside the model and suggests them from your system languages. See languages and models.
  • Dropdowns throughout the app now match its own look, and an open menu stays open while the live transcript scrolls.

0.6.1 2026-10-13

  • Release notes in the app. The update prompt shows what the new version changes before you install it, and Settings → General shows what changed in the version you are running. Both link to this page for the full history.

0.6.0 2026-10-13

  • Review an agent's notes in Earkeep. A markdown file an agent writes opens in a review dialog over the main window, where you can read it, suggest changes, leave comments the agent can answer, or edit it directly. Everything is written back into the file itself, so the agent reads your review the same way it reads the note.
  • The lock screen after a trial ends now has a Check now button, so an extended trial unlocks right away instead of at the next daily check.

0.5.0 2026-10-12

  • Git integration. When your transcripts folder sits inside a git repository, Earkeep commits each day's file when the day ends and when a meeting on it changes, then pushes to your remotes. A push that is rejected is answered by pulling the new commits first, and a conflicting pull can be handed to an agent to resolve. Commit messages name the meetings they are about. Settings → Storage & Git controls all of it. See git integration.
  • MCP over stdio. The app now doubles as a stdio MCP server, earkeep-mcp, so Claude Desktop and other clients read your meetings without the app running and without a bridge. The HTTP server is still there.
  • Calendar-driven capture no longer opens the microphone at launch when there is no meeting left in the day.

0.4.0 2026-10-12

  • Calendar-driven capture. A new, opt-in mode in Settings → Recording & calendars that records only around the meetings on your agenda, for anyone whose day is mostly not meetings. Always-on stays the default. See calendar.
  • Settings are reorganized into stacked fields, and MCP setup moved into its own Settings section.
  • The rail shows the capture mode and the transcription model beside the language.
  • Dates follow the app's language while keeping your region's clock, date order and first day of the week.
  • Deleting a whole day in one step is gone. Deleting a selection or a saved meeting works as before, and deleting every line of a day still removes its file.

0.3.6 2026-09-21

  • “Pause until the next meeting” is available right after launch, as soon as the agenda shows that meeting.

0.3.5 2026-09-18

  • The pause menu can stop capture until the next meeting or until tomorrow, beside the fixed lengths.

0.3.4 2026-09-16

  • Onboarding recommends and pre-selects the default transcription model, large-v3-turbo, instead of the small one.

0.3.3 2026-09-02

  • The trial's days-left count now updates when a day passes, instead of waiting for the next network check.

0.3.2 2026-08-27

  • The pause menu opens downward when there is no room above it.

0.3.1 2026-08-26

  • Small layout fixes to the never-record toggle and the consent notice, which now links to recording consent.

0.3.0 2026-08-26

  • Consent controls. Pause capture for 15, 30 or 60 minutes or until you resume, mark a calendar meeting as never-record, and delete a stretch of transcript afterwards. Pausing releases the microphone, so your device's recording indicator goes dark.

0.2.1 2026-08-25

  • The window remembers its size, position and maximized state across launches.
  • The trial's last day reads as one day left, not zero.

0.2.0 2026-08-24

  • Only calendar events that look like real meetings (a video link, or other people invited) start a meeting on their own. Personal blocks like lunch or focus time no longer do.
  • A file an agent writes through its shell now shows up as one of the session's outputs, ready to open.

0.1.5 2026-08-21

  • Earkeep now runs on Intel Macs as well as Apple Silicon, as a separate download. Transcription there runs on the CPU.

0.1.4 2026-08-21

  • The trial banner's buttons now respond to clicks.

0.1.3 2026-08-20

  • An open window follows the clock onto the new day at midnight, instead of staying on yesterday.

0.1.2 2026-08-12

  • Agent CLIs installed through your shell profile, such as Claude Code, are found instead of reported as not installed.

0.1.1 2026-08-12

  • Fixed a crash that could happen after several hours of recording system audio.

0.1.0 2026-08-11

  • The first public release: always-on capture of your microphone and system audio, on-device transcription, meetings marked after the fact on a timeline, calendar sync, agents and MCP, plain .jsonl files on disk, and a 14-day trial.
